A BRIEF HISTORY
The first Pennsylvania-based Parent-Child Home Program site opened in Hollidaysburg in 1987. In 2002, the Program grew from 1 site to 28 sites throughout the state.
The Pennsylvania Parent-Child Home Program is funded with state and federal TANF dollars through the Child Care Development Block Grant Fund which will allocate a total of $12 million dollars to the state's sites over 3 years, from February 2002 to June 2005.

FACTS ABOUT PENNSYLVANIA'S PARENT-CHILD HOME PROGRAM FAMILIES
• 33% of parent-participants have not graduated from high school.
• Parent-Child Home Program Home Visitors completed over 64,000 home visits with Pennsylvania families from July 2003 to June 2004.
• 13% of the families served by the Program are teen parent families.
• 4,390 children benefited from the Program last year. This figure includes approximately 1,795 two- and three-year-olds who participated in the program and their 2,595 siblings who reaped the benefits of the increased verbal interaction, reading and parent involvement in their homes.
The Parent-Child Home Program served approximately 1,800 families in Pennsylvania during the past year.
