THE ORIGINAL SITE OF THE PARENT-CHILD HOME PROGRAM
The Parent-Child Home Program was developed in New York in 1965. The program began as a demonstration project of the Family Service Association of Nassau County. In 1979, The Parent-Child Home Program, Inc. was established as a non-profit organization to operate The Parent-Child Home Program’s National Center and replicate The Parent-Child Home Program in other communities.

RECENT NEW YORK PROGRAM RESEARCH
A New York University study, soon to be published, shows that The Parent-Child Home Program is highly effective at preparing New York’s children for success in kindergarten. The study demonstrates that the Program puts into place three key aspects of subsequent high academic achievement – early literacy skills, social competence skills, and parental involvement – which are all critical components of the federal “No Child Left Behind” initiative. Researchers, gathering information from five New York school districts, concluded that despite the challenges of poverty, limited English proficiency, low parental education, and immigrant status, children who participated in The Parent- Child Home Program were performing at the same level as their classmates from better educated and wealthier homes.
